(Madison, Mississippi)—September is World Alzheimer’s Month and St. Catherine’s Village is responding with a special offer on Campbell Cove memory care. New residents who move into Campbell Cove before October 31, 2019 can save 10 percent on monthly service fees for one year.
According to Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI), the organization that created World Alzheimer’s Month eight years ago, the goal of this global campaign is to raise awareness about dementia and its impact on families. This year’s theme is “Let’s talk about dementia: End the stigma.”
“Alzheimer’s Disease effects more than just memory, it also hinders cognitive skills, problem solving and judgment,” said Felichia Fields, assistant executive director of St. Catherine’s Village Life Plan Community in Madison, Mississippi. “For those suffering from dementia or memory loss, preserving their independence and dignity become the main priority to ensure the best quality of life.”
That’s why St. Catherine’s Village created a protected—yet comfortable, homelike—environment at Campbell Cove. The architectural design minimizes obstacles while the floor plan features way finding cues and circulation paths to guide people from one place to another. Small yet distinctive neighborhoods reinforce familiarity while space is available to support family-size gatherings, as well.
Campbell Cove accommodates 36 residents in three color-coded wings, each with a common living room and dining area along with 12 furnished private bedrooms. The residential wings join together in a large multipurpose area with an arts and crafts room, recreation center, country kitchen, and living room.
“With its combination of personal and public spaces, this layout gives residents the opportunity for alone time; however, they can still participate in activities as they desire,” said Fields.
Outside are secure landscaped patios and a walking garden so residents and their families can spend time outdoors in a safeguarded setting.
Included in the monthly fees at Campbell Cove are three meals a day; coffee and refreshments; supervision of self-administered medications; assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and grooming; 24-hour professional nursing staff; utilities except telephone and internet; weekly housekeeping and linen laundering; and 24-hour security.
Not only is Campbell Cove licensed by the State of Mississippi as an “Alzheimer’s Assisted Living” facility, St. Catherine’s Village has received “Exemplary” recognition for its person-centered programming. Care is activity-focused with the objective of fostering involvement and engagement through an array of stimulating activities and familiar sensory experiences. Scheduled events and entertainment along with unplanned interactions are designed to support cognitive and physical functioning, thus helping residents maintain their freedom for as long as possible.
“From social to cultural, recreational to spiritual…these activities enhance the quality of life for those living in Campbell Cove,” said Fields.
To provide compassionate care, all Campbell Cove staff members are specially trained and follow a social model of care to offer loving, nurturing assistance while supporting each person’s capabilities and affirming his or her dignity.
Unparalleled services and facilities are the hallmark of not only Campbell Cove but all of St. Catherine’s Village. Located on 160 acres in Madison, it is the first retirement community in Mississippi to earn accreditation by CARF-CCAC. This “commitment to excellence” seal signifies that the campus exceeds the standards established by the only international accrediting body for Continuing Care Retirement Communities.
The private, gated community boasts wooded grounds, protected and beautiful outdoor spaces, a caring staff, on-site resident-centered nursing care, and a mission-focused environment for adults age 62 and older.
As Madison’s preeminent Life Plan Community, St. Catherine’s Village offers independent living in apartments and garden homes, assisted living in Marian Hall, memory care in Campbell Cove, memory care with skilled nursing in Hughes Center, and skilled nursing in Siena Center as well as the campus’ newest building, Tuscany.
