therapeutics for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases and the study of Neuroimaging biomarkers for aging and dementia. Dr. Huang is a member
of the American Academy of Neurology.

The organization consists of volunteers, city officials and corporate sponsors dedicated to enhancing Madison the City with beautification projects, litter control and recycling. St. Catherine’s Village is blessed with 160 acres of incredible land so residences are nestled amid trees and lush woods and many overlook the lake. Yoga at St. Catherine’s Village

Lee Parrott, Certified Yoga Instructor will be back at St. Catherine’s Village to teach yoga in the activity room starting in August.

Our yoga class is in the chair and exercises can be modified to your interest and ability. You do not have to get on the floor for this class unless you want to. Experience a 45-minute class of stretching, strengthening, working on balance and flexibility. You will leave the class feeling regenerated and relaxed.

Free Memory Loss Seminar to Be Held at St. Catherine’s Village on July 21

The public is invited to attend a FREE educational seminar, Understanding Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease And Parkinson’s Disease, on Saturday, July 21 at St. Catherine’s Village in Madison, Mississippi.

St. Catherine’s Village is presenting the free educational seminar Understanding Dementia, Alzheimer’s Disease And Parkinson’s Disease on Saturday, July 21, 2018.

The event will take place at the community’s Independent Living Activity Room from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The public is welcome; however, space is limited so reservations are required. Light refreshments will be provided and tours of St. Catherine’s village and its memory care facilities also will be available.

Attendees will learn about key research in the fields of advanced memory loss and central nervous system disorders. Dr. Juebin Huang, Associate Professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Mind Center, will present Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease: Research and Progress. Dr. Natividad Stover, Associate Professor at the University of Alabama, Birmingham will cover Parkinson’s Disease: Research and Progress. In between, staff from St. Catherine’s Village will have a Q&A session on the senior living community’s award-winning memory care facilities.

Hear from two medical experts—Dr. Juebin Huang, Associate Professor at University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Mind Center and Dr. Natividad Stover, Associate Professor at University of Alabama, Birmingham on their research and the progress that has been made in the field.

Dr. Stover specializes in neurology, movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, deep brain stimulation, and dystonia. Dr. Stover is affiliated with Birmingham VA Medical Center and the University Of Alabama Hospital.

Employee Spotlight – Doris Henry

Doris Henry works as a certified nursing assistant in Magnolia Bay of Campbell Cove. She has been working at St. Catherine’s Village for 19 years. Her favorite part of her job is coming in every morning to work and making sure her residents are taken care of. She always wants to make sure they are treated the way she would want to be treated and how she would treat her family. She believes treating residents well makes them feel good and happy.
Her favorite activity is reminiscencing with them. It gives her an opportunity to get to know them better.  She believes teamwork is very important. The whole team should try to get along and they should try to get to know each other because everyone is different.
In her spare time, she likes to work in her yard with her flowers or yardwork. She likes going out in her Kingdom Hall Ministry and talking with people about the Bible. She also likes spending time with her family. She was born and resides in Yazoo City and has two children and three grandchildren.
